Five Beauty Products I Found and Loved in 2020

January 17, 2021

Like most of the population, I’m very happy to see the tail end of 2020, and although I’m all too aware that a new calendar isn’t going to make the heartache of last year go away, I’m still looking forward to this year with a renewed sense of… well, let’s not go overboard, but at least there’s definitely less doom and gloom. Despite 2020 being a total mess, there were a few beauty discoveries that I made and will be happily bringing into the new year with me.

Beauty product favourites

Zelens Pads:
Okay, so in full transparency, these first came to my attention years ago when Caroline Hirons first featured then in a Cult Beauty collab box. But last year was the first time I’ve consistently used them and *oh my glow* they are pretty fab. If I want to wake up feeling smooth and looking glowy (umm… always!) these are what I reach for #overnightglow

Alpha-H Vitamin E with Macadamia:
In the world of skincare I really think Vitamin E gets overshadowed by it’s more exciting cousins Vitamin A and Vitamin C. And although A and C have the potential to make a quick and visible difference in skin, Vitamin E is what I reach for to change how my skin feels. The Alpha-H Vitamin E with Macadamia is a thin, silky serum that nourishes and calms damaged and sensitive skin. It’s what I reach for after my skin hasn’t agreed with a new product, or when my skin looks likes its had a big day.

Beauty product favourites

Sunday Riley Juno Oil:
As someone who’s tried many face oils that sit on top of the skin and don’t absorb nicely, I can confirm that this is different. Juno gives glow rather than shine, and soaks into my skin beautifully (just follow the less is more logic here). It gives my skin a healthy appearance while still feeling nourished, hydrates well and still smells nice, botanical but nice.

Vaseline Body Cream:
I’ve long complained about the dry skin on my body, and as such I’m always on the lookout for a new body lotion. The Vaseline Skin Serum range launched last year and it’s a goodie. Hydrating, lightweight, fast-absorbing and non-sticky, which means I can put clothes on straight away which is always a win in my book. Be warned though, the Cranberry scent is just as delicious to mosquitos as it is to us, so I’d opt for the Green Tea fragrance if you’re in Summer climes.

Kiehls Ultra Facial Cream:
If you like a light yet very hydrating facial moisturiser, I’d highly recommend this one. It absorbs quickly, doesn’t feel greasy or look shiny, has no fragrance and can be taken right up to (even my super-sensitive) eyes. It’s also very comparable to, but much more affordable than, my holy grail moisturizer, the Murad Hydro Dynamic.

What were your favourite finds of 2020? Any beauty bits you think I need to know about?

I really like Vaseline’s bodycare products! They’re really good at moisturising my skin, especially during the winter months.

I was seriously impressed! I honestly didn’t have the highest hopes, but I love being surprised like that x

OK I love vaseline on my skin. My man used to use it and I stole his bottle years ago and never gave it back!
